The construction of Omo-Kuraz I Sugar Development Project, in the Southern Regional State of Ethiopia, is 95 percent complete, Walta Information Center (WIC) reported.

Colonel Yohannes Tikesa, Chief Executive Officer of Omo-Kuraz Sugar Development Project, told WIC the factory is being constructed on 420 thousand square meters of land.

Water Works Design and Construction Enterprise, Maru Engineering and Yirgalem Construction, are involved in the construction project.

Sugarcane crushing machines assembly imported from Germany is on the verge of completion, he noted.

When the factory goes fully operational, it will have a capacity to produce six thousand quintals of sugar a day.

Five thousand jobs were created by the construction of the factory, he indicated.
