Three companies are said to commence production of gold soon, according to the Ministry of Mines of Ethiopia.
Dr. Alemu Sime, Mines State Minister told Ethiopian News Agency (ENA) KEFI Exploration Company, National Mining Corporation Plc. (MIDROC), and Ascom had completed their feasibility studies to start production in the early years of GTP II period.
Melaku Beza, Chief Executive Officer of National Mining Corporation, said there is massive gold deposit discovered by the company in Oromia Regional State.
Moreover, National Mining Corporation had completed feasibility study in Tigray Regional State.
The feasibility studies carried out in Ethiopia had exhibited the presence of meaningful amount of gold, tantalum, phosphorus, iron, salt, potash, soda ash, gemstones, coal, geothermal, natural gas, other industrial and construction minerals/rocks, Ministry of Mines indicates.
