Oman seeks to increase its non-oil exports to Ethiopia by organizing an exhibition in the country after conducting an exhaustive market study, according to Times of Oman.
Oman prepares to hold an Omani products exhibition in Addis Ababa in April 2016. Semi-finished goods iron and polymers are the main exports of Oman to Ethiopia.
Oman’s export promotion agency, the Public Authority for Investment Promotionn and Export Development (Ithraa) had undertaken a market study in Ethiopia to evaluate the export potential of 59 Omani products.
The study was conducted on foodstuffs, building material, furniture, marble, stones, textiles and vegetables sectors.
Ithraa had prepared a business-to-business meeting for Omani businessmen in Addis Ababa to exhibit Omani products for Ethiopian businessmen and traders.
Ethiopia’s total exports stands at USD 5.7 billion and its imports are USD 22 billion, the World Bank indicates. Ethiopia’s main trading partners are China, Saudi Arabia and United States.
Ithraa had been organizing a series of Omani product exhibitions starting from 2012 to boost its non-oil exports.
