The Addis Ababa City Roads Authority (AACRA) had postponed rebuilding the Akaki Bridge and Kality-Tulu Dimtu road which were scheduled to be renovated this September, The Reporter reported.
Fekade Haile (Eng.), General Manager of AACRA, told The Reporter the renovation and maintenance was postponed due to the project’s revision to connect with the interchanges road that is under construction around Tulu Dimtu. Besides, AACRA is waiting for the final design completion of the Tulu Dimtu interchanges project which was needed to complement Akaki, he said.
Furthermore, the railway project that passes across the same bridge need to be settled, he added. Thus, for the time being the commencement of the renovation of the routes is unknown.
The project is also hindered due to insufficient finance, Fekade stated.
