Ethiopian Road Authority (ERA) said it had concluded upgrading the Welqite-Arekete-Hossana road construction project.

Samson Wondimu, Communication Director at the Authority, told Walta Information Center (WIC) the road project, which is 126 kilometers long, has been upgraded from gravel to asphalt road.

The cost of the road project is 1.3 billion Birr. CGGC and Hawek International Finance and Construction companies had undertaken the upgrading of Welqite-Arekete and Arekete-Hossana road construction respectively.

The road project started in October 2012. The 1.3 billion Birr was secured from both IDA International Development Association loan and Ethiopian government budget.
