Israeli Companies Seek to Invest in Ethiopia’s Agricultural Sector

Israeli agriculture companies, 15 in number had disclosed their intention to engage in Ethiopia’s agricultural sector, according to Ethiopian News Agency.

The Ethio-Israeli Agritech Forum that was launched yesterday, September 10, 2015, is meant to establish partnership between Israeli and Ethiopian agricultural companies.

These 15 companies have a plan to introduce Israel’s agricultural technologies to Ethiopia, according to representatives of the companies.

Ethiopia’s Agricultural Minister Wondirad Mandefro said poor technology and lack of capital has contributed for the slow progress of Ethiopia’s agricultural productivity.

He also stated Ethiopia wants to modernize its farming practices and boost agricultural productivity. Thus, he noted, these companies investing in the agricultural sector will have a greater importance in escalating the growth Ethiopia’s agricultural sector.
