Ethio-Djibouti railway which links Ethiopia and Djibouti will be open for traffic starting from early 2016, according to the head of Ethiopian Railways.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the 450 mile line which is being constructed with USD 4 billion, is a major step for Ethiopia to bring about manufacturing industries in the country.
Getachew Betru, Chief Executive Officer of Ethiopian Railways Corporation, spoke to the press “By October 2015, a considerable portion of the Addis Ababa-Djibouti project will be completed.”
He also noted “We will start in early 2016. It is a game changer for us. It will be one of the most vibrant economic corridors in the world.”
