Ethiopia has secured USD 450 million from the textile industry, according to Textile Industry Development Institute.

Bantehun Gesesse, Director of Corporate Communication of the Institute in an exclusive interview with Walta Information Center (WIC) said, Ethiopia has earned the amount during GTP I period.

Among the countries that are importing significant amount of textiles from Ethiopia are Germany, USA, Turkey, Sudan, Italy, Netherlands, UK and Djibouti.

Thus far, 11,000 entrepreneurs and 130 medium and higher industries have entered the textile sector, it was learnt.

The textile industry has created job opportunities for 49,000 citizens, Bantehun noted.
