The Ethiopian Investment Commission said Ethiopia has attracted 3,522 foreign direct investment projects worth 370 billion Birr in the past five years.

The number overpasses the target by 184 projects.

Getahun Negash, Commission Public Relations Officer, said most of the projects, 1,614 or 45.8 percent are condensed in Addis Ababa, the remaining 906 and 162 are found in Oromia and Amhara regions respectively.

Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples as well as Tigray State have 98 and 56 projects respectively and the rest are in other states.

1079 projects engaged in agriculture, industry and service sectors have begun operation and the rest are under construction.

The overall projects have created jobs for 80,000 citizens.
