Ethiopia: Ambassador Girma Receives “Business Champion of the Year Award”

Girma Birru, Ethiopian Ambassador to the United States, received the “Business Champion of the Year Award” for his work in assisting the Diaspora, The Daily Monitor reported.

Ambassador Girma received the award at a ceremony held at Sheraton Addis Hotel yesterday, August 13, 2015, in the evening.

The Ethiopian Diaspora Business Forum said the award recognized Girma for his support of Diaspora investment in Ethiopia.

Ethiopian Diaspora Business Forum awards dinner was held in Washington D.C. for the past 10 years, but this year’s is held in Addis Ababa in connection with the Diaspora Week Celebration by the government of Ethiopia.

The Awards Dinner includes the celebration of Diaspora entrepreneurship and pioneering work of Tamrat Bekele, founder and CEO of International Clinical Laboratories and Dr. Akeza Teame, founder and Medical Director of St. Yared Hospital and American Medical Center. These personalities will be receiving this year’s Pioneer Ethiopian Diaspora Business Persons of the Year Awards.
