Sunrise Engineering and Machinery Manufacturing PLC, Turkish-based Company engaged in the manufacturing and distribution of transformers seeks to expand its production capacity, The Reporter reported.

The company for more than a year has been engaged in the business of manufacturing and distribution of transformers and lately it wants to increase production capacity with 100 to 1500 million Birr investment.

Enis Yurtcu, General Manager and Co-owner of the company, told The Reporter the current investment has to be doubled due to the increasing demand for more transformers and substations. After the completion of Gilgel Gibe III hydroelectric power project, the estimated amount of transformers required will reach 20 thousands units a year, he said. And at this moment, Sunrise has an installed capacity of manufacturing 3,600 transformer units annually.

The company is situated on a 20,000 square meter plot of land at Gelan Industrial Zone. Sunrise supplies transformers to government agencies and some private firms. According to Yurtcu, it also provides maintenance and refurbishing services.
