Ethiopia earned USD 2.4 billion from oilseeds export in the GTP I period, according to the Ministry of Trade.
Mulugeta Mohammed, Crop Production Marketing Director at the Ministry, told Ethiopian News Agency (ENA), the amount was earned from the export of 1.5 million tons of oilseeds.
The nation has generated USD 477 million each year on average in the past five years through the export of 302, 598 tons of oilseeds, Mulugeta stated.
Of the total revenue, Sesame contributed the significant amount by generating 93.6 percent.
Ethiopia stood fourth in sesame production in the world next to India, China and Sudan.
Ethiopia’s dominant oilseeds export destinations are China, Israel, Turkey and Jordan.
