Ethiopia’s Per Capita Income Forecasted to Reach USD 700

Ethiopia’s per capita income is forecasted to reach USD 700 by the end of the first Growth and Transformation Plan (GTP) period, according to the National Planning Commission (NPC).

Getachew Adem, National Planning Deputy Commissioner, conveyed the statement at the panel discussion on the draft plan of the second GTP period organized for civil servants and scholars in Addis Ababa.

Ethiopia’s per capita which was USD 632 last budget year, is expected to reach USD 700 by the end of this budget year, he said.

Ethiopia’s economy registered 10.1 percent annual growth on average in the past four years, Getachew noted.

Six percent of growth was witnessed by the agricultural sector on average, where as the service sector registered 10.7 percent, he went on elaborating.

The manufacturing and construction industry sector grew by 13 and 26 percent respectively, the Commissioner added.
