Ethiopia: Milk, Meat production Boost in the GTP Period

The productions of milk and meat have registered three fold increments in the last five years of GTP period, Ministry of Agriculture said.

Tadesse Sori, Animal Fodder Development Director at the Ministry told Walta Information Center (WIC) in 2010, the total production of milk stood at 1.5 billion liters but during the past fiscal year of the GTP period it reached 5 billion liters.

Similarly, the total production of meat has increased to 1.5 million tons in 2015 from 500,000 tons in 2010, Tadesse noted.

Ethiopia is ranked tenth in livestock resources in Africa; 54 million cattle, 2.5 million camels, 50 million sheep and goats, WIC learnt.
