Council of Ministers approves 223.3 billion Birr Ethiopia’s budget for the coming fiscal year and referred the draft bill to the House of Peoples’ Representatives (HPR) for ratification, the Capital reported.

As stated in the draft bill, from the 223,819,261,000 Birr, 22.6 percent is intended for regular budget and 37.4 percent for capital budget. 34.7 percent of the budget is for regional states where as 5.4 percent will be for the implementation of Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

HPR approved 178.6 billion Birr in 2014/2015 fiscal year. It was 15 percent up from the previous year increasing the spending on education, health and roads.
