Ethiopian Tourist Trading Enterprise (ETTE) is awarded by Privatization and Public Enterprises Supervising Agency (PPESA) as it secured the highest profit and forex in the previous Fiscal year, according to The Daily Monitor.
ETTE has also received certificate of appreciation from Addis Ababa Chamber of Commerce and Sectorial Associations at the fourth International Tourism and Travel Fair at the Addis Ababa Exhibition Center.
ETTE has secured annual net profit worth Birr 60 million locally from the sale of gift items such as art crafts, paintings and wood works.
The cultural artifacts also include chairs, ceramics, artistic works, cravats with Ethiopian alphabets and shirts.
ETTE has competed with different government development organizations such as Bahir Dar S.C, Arba Minch Textile Factory, National Alcohol and Liquor Factory and Ethiopian Mineral Development S.C., among others.
Assefa Guya, Director General of the Enterprise told journalists “We have also been awarded for the highest forex we have earned, USD 12.5 million (Birr 250 million)”.
ETTE started the business in 1965 in a small gift articles shop at Bole Airport with six employees.
