Metals and Engineering Corporation (METEC) disclosed that it hopes to undertake forthcoming Ethiopian Mega Projects.

The Corporation’s performances on hydro-mechanical, electromechanical and software development works are witnesses that it has potential to handle different mega projects, said Letenal Colonel Kidu Tsegaye, Acting Head of the Corporation.

High level rate of import could be reduced by homemade metals, machineries and spare parts, besides it enables the corporation to be acquainted with skill and technology transfer.

The corporation’s remarkable contributions had been seen in Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam Projects (GERDP), Tana Beles one and two, Omo Sugar Factory, Yayu Fertilizer Factory and natural gas constructions.

It had also been of a great help in developing the design of GERDP to increase its power generation from 5,250 to 6,000, he added.

Out of 38 internationally licensed Ethiopian Welders fifteen are working in METEC and specifically seven are in GERDP, he said, adding that 300 dwellers are working in the corporation.
