The Egyptian company Asec Engineering and Management concluded plant management agreement with Ethiopia’s national Cement Share Company.
Asec, which is a subsidiary of Egypt’s Qalaa Holdings, signed a one year contract with the possibility of renewing it for five years term. According to the deal, Asec will provide full technical assistance to National with regard to operation and maintenance of the cement plant.
The Egyptian company is expected to utilize its knowhow and expertise to help National Cement boost production volumes, out production costs and improve product quality.
On the other hand National Cement is found in the city of Dire Dawa, 450 kilometers of the capital Addis Ababa. The plant is said to boast a production capacity of one million tons of clinker per annum.
Asec Engineering CEO Khaled El Sebaie, commented on the development; “"This is a result of the continued efforts of Asec Engineering and its ambitious plans to expand its business into Sub-Saharan Africa after its successful contract with Cimento Nacional Company in Mozambique."
He explained Asec is going to introduce and implement systems for all aspects of production, quality, maintenance, warehousing and human resources, among other areas.
