Delegation team of Canadian business tycoons led by Senator Don Meredith is discussing with business persons from Ethiopia concerning business and investment opportunities and possible partnership.
Birtukan Ayano, Ethiopian Ambassador to Canada, explained the Ethio-Canada business forum which is being held in Ethiopia is part of the efforts being taken to promote business and investment opportunities in Ethiopia for Canadians.
The companies that are here have different thematic area such as ICT, real estate, hospitality and tourism.
Ethiopian News Agency noted the event will give the companies the opportunity to understand the business and investment opportunities Ethiopia offers.
"Ethiopia counts Canada as one of its key development partners, a partnership which has resulted in highly successfully poverty alleviation programs,” the Ambassador said.
Senator Meredith on his part explained they understand the existence of conducive environment in Ethiopia for Canadian investors. Labour force, peace and stability were cited as factors by the Senator as ones that will attract Canadian firms.
“We looking to invest in ICT, Agriculture, energy, house and infrastructure as well as financing sectors here in Ethiopia," he added.
Taye Atskeselassie, American Affairs Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, for his part noted the relationship between the two countries has been growing. There is a smooth relationship between the two and Canadian support to Ethiopia has been consistent, the Director added.
Canadian Ambassador to Ethiopia, David usher, also explained the Embassy has been bringing business delegations to Ethiopia in the quest of promoting business opportunities to the East African nation.
