The Czech based technology supplier of chemical, food and energy industries, ZVU Potez, delivered of a brewery facility in Ethiopia. The facility is found in Maychew and the project was concluded for 27.6 million Euro.
The other contracting party, Raya Breweries, is found in the northern part of Ethiopia Maychew town. The brewery is said to have a capacity of producing 600,000 hectoliters per annum and creates job opportunities for 150 to 200 people.
The project ZVU Potez included the delivery of complete technology for the brewery plant and a boiler room, transformer station, water treatment and sewage treatment plants. In addition to these, it has a diesel generator which serves as a reserve energy source.
The whole project took two years, starting from the conclusion of the deal. Commenting on the development Vladimir Cepelík, CEO ZVU Potez, said, ““A first phase included the training of local personnel, and other phases will continue after the opening of the brewery,”
Czech master brewer Ladislav Parízek will remain there to oversee production.
According to the Czech firm the technologies used are one of the most advanced energy-saving solutions in the field of brewing. The plant captures CO2 during fermentation for further processing. It also has a system which reduces energy consumption. On the other hand the energy transformed during the production process will be utilized for the purpose of heating the water.
“The African continent is very interesting for us. Currently we are developing additional business pportunities there and evaluating the potential of each individual investor. … Our extensive experience in the brewing industry … allows us to penetrate the markets from South America to East Asia,” Cepelík said.
ZVU Potez’s subsidiary, DIO Hradec Králové was also involved in the project.
