Ethiopian Investment Commission (EInC) announced more than 200 new and 53 expansion projects with has 21 billion Birr registered capital were licensed in the past six months of Ethiopia’s fiscal year.

During a press conference EIC’s Director General Fitsum Arega, explained out of the total projects given license 108 of them have went operational.

The Commission was also contacted by over 2,000 investors from 42 different countries during the six months time, he added.

In a related matter he said finalizing the first industry park proclamation is a big step forward to make Ethiopia the hub of Africa’s industrialization in the coming years.

The proclamation mainly aims at transforming the manufacturing industry sector in general and in particular the light industries. The bill is expected to be passed by the House of Peoples Representatives.
