One of the nine states of Ethiopia, Tigray, has set aside 12,000 hectares of land for industrial zones. This was disclosed by the State’s Urban Development, Construction and Industry Bureau.
The industrial zones are aimed at attracting domestic and foreign investors, Goitom Gebrekidan, Bureau Investment Business Process Owner, explained. The industrial zones are going to be built in 12 major cities of the State, according to him.
In some towns the Bureau will be offering the land for a lease price of 0.75 Birr, Goitom added.
From the year 1984 (Ethiopian Calendar) up to now, over 450 investment projects with an aggregate 65 billion Birr have went gone operational in Tigray State, Goitom explained. These projects have created job opportunity for over 900,000 people.
