Ethiopia’s Inflation Reached 7.7 Percent in January

Ethiopia’s Central Statistics Agency (CSA) disclosed the nation’s inflation rate has rose from 7.1 percent to 7.7 percent year-on-year in the month of January when compared to month previous year.

The agency attributed the increment in price to the higher food as w ell as non-food items. Meat, dairy products, vegetables, fruit and products of the like increased 7.1 percent in January. This is from 6.5 percent of inflation rate which was witnessed in December.

On the other hand, non food inflation rose to 8.2 percent in the aforementioned month, which was 7.8 percent in December. This is mainly due to the increase in prices of clothes and khat.

Back in 2014 inflation reached 9.1 percent yet it has been moving up and down ever since.
