Expansion work being carried out on transformer manufacturing plant which is owned by Ethiopian Power Engineering Industry (EPEI) has reached 95 percent completion rate.

The plant is found in the Oromia State and the expansion work is being done at a total cost of 360. Upon completion of expansion work and going operational, the plant is expected to have a capacity of manufacturing 10,000 transformers a year.

In addition to this the Industry has concluded contracts with electric and telecom companies for the supply of 10,000 transformers this year.

Captain Abrhaley Gebrekidan, Head of the plant, explained EPEI is going to manufacture different types of transformers that have capacity starting from 315 Kilowatt power.

He furthered the plant aims to export its products to neighboring as it is the only transformer manufacturing plant in East Africa.
