Ethiopian Petroleum Supply Enterprise disclosed Vitol Bahrain is going to start supplying 30 percent of Ethiopia’s import diesel and benzene from this month on.
Vitol Bahrain, which is part of the multinational energy trading company Vitol Group, got the deal after winning a bid floated for the importation of the products, Demelash Alemu, Advicer to the CEO of the Enterprise, explained.
Demelash also noted the drop in oil price benefited Ethiopia. The nation managed to save money even if there is a national increase in consumption of oil by eight percent when compared to the previous year.
70 percent of Ethiopia’s diesel, kerosene for airplanes and benzene are supplied for Kuwait. On the other hand light and heavy diesel oil are supplied from Saudi Arabia.
