Addis Ababa City Housing Construction Project Office (AAHCPO) disclosed it will finalize the construction of around 73,000 houses by next year.
Out of the houses that were planned to be built under three phases, some of them will be completed this year, Kassa Woldsenbet, the office Communication Affairs Process Officer explained.
Currently there are close to one million dwellers of the city that has registered under different housing schemes.
Kassa attributed the reasons for the delay of the projects as lack of infrastructure, inputs and trained manpower. He added infrastructural development offices are currently working in coordination to solve the problem.
Communication Manager at the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia, Efrem Mkurai, on his part said about one million inhabitants of the city have been saving to meet their obligations in the housing scheme devised to build houses for citizens.
