United Bank S.C. gave award to 63 companies that are in the export sector and worked with the Bank during the 2013/2014 fiscal year. The award ceremony was held on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at Addis Ababa Hilton Hotel.

22 of the awardees were given trophies coupled with certificates while the rest were only served with certificates.

Commenting on the occasion the Bank’s President, Taye Dibekulu, “Although Ethiopia has second highest population number compared to the other sub Saharan Africa, the contribution of the export items to the national GDP is very small seen in terms of the countries like Kenya with small number of population”.

The business tycoons are from different sectors such as, coffee, horticulture, oil seed, pulse, cereals and grain, textile, processed food, hide and skin products. Other than these, service providers like hotels and construction firms also got the award.
