Nyota Minerals disclosed a significant reduction in renewed license has been made by the Ministry of Mines with regard to the miner’s gold exploration concession in western Ethiopia.
Nyota has got its Brantham and Towchester mining licenses renewed. But the company saw its concession’s on Brantham reduced to 717 Kilometer Square from 1,346 Kilometer square and from 1,002 Kilometer square on Towchester to 48 Kilometer square.
The Ministry also noted it will not renew or issue exploration licenses which in any way will affect the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GRED). This, according to the Press Release by Nyota, will primarily affect where the rationale for the renewal of those areas was to conduct exploration and prospecting in support of the proposed mechanised mining of the alluvial deposits that will be inundated by the rising water level.
The Press Release by Nyota furthered the license application it submitted to the Ministry for the mechanized mining of the Abay River (or Blue Nile) gravel terraces is being considered internally by the Ministry of Mines and, as is necessary, other government departments.
