Ethiopia: Foreign Contractors to Step into Addis’ Housing Program

Ethiopia’s capital, Addis Ababa, is going to have foreign companies join its expanding housing program.

There is an international bid floating that invites foreign contractors to involve in eh housing program of the capital city, Ministry of Urban Development and Construction (MUDC) said.

Mekuria Haile, Minister for Urban Development and Construction, explained there is the need for the involvement of foreign contractors due to the need to build new houses as quickly as possible for the city’s dwellers.

There are many advantages to involving foreign companies, including a vast amount of experience, firm capital, time usage, human resource management, etc.

The international bid that has been floating is said to have taken different issues into consideration. Haile noted bidders will collaborate with local contractors for the construction of houses of more than 952,000 residents of Addis Ababa.
