Ethiopia: Ethio Telecom and Ericsson Concluded Financing and Framework Agreement

Ethio Telecom concluded financing and framework agreement with Ericsson on Tuesday, December 16, 2014, for the upgrade work of the telecom’s network capacity and performance. The network upgrade work is particularly going to be focused on mobile communication and related services.

According to the press release by Ethio Telecom, the agreement is going to improve quality of network coverage and more innovative mobile communication services. It will also enhance the use of Ericsson’s products and services for the purpose of transforming and expanding the current mobile network. In addition to this it will enable to meet the country’s need to bring connectivity to more than 40 million subscribers by the end of the second Growth and Transformation Plan (GTP II) period.

Ericsson is expected to start implementing the contract in the coming six months in order to enable ethio telecom to deliver services with required standard and quality.

Ethio Telecom in its press release noted the deal will enable it to achieve its mission of realizing the GTP with regard to the telecom sector.
