Ethiopia: ECAE Bought Laboratory Equipments for 37 Million Birr

Ethiopian Conformity Assessment Enterprise (ECAE) made purchase of new laboratory equipments which it will use to assess substances like water.

The newly bought equipments are bought for 37 Million Birr and they are said to reduce the time it use to take to assess water from one month to a single week.

The equipments are going to be installed in the six laboratories the Enterprise run under the Assessment directorate.

In addition to this ECAE is in the process of procuring additional equipment for 30 million Br donated by the European Union.

The equipments are procured from Germany and America. The companies from where the products are bought from are German companies Lab Consult, Labsco, and A. Fundutch supplying, and American companies Filler and Durege.

“The new equipment has new improved qualities,” explained Tekea Birhane, corporate communications head at ECAE. “The new ones can give multiple results at a time, but the existing ones give one result at a time.”
