Ethiopian Roads Authority (ERA) disclosed it has planned to carry out 43 road projects worth 30 Billion Birr for the current fiscal year.
According to the Authority’s Public Relation Director, Samson Wondimu, out of the total outlay 30 percent of it is going to be covered by the Federal Government.
The plan is to make 79 percent of the projects asphalted roads and the remaining gravel ones.
Samson also noted road projects, among others, that are expected to be finalized during the current fiscal year are; Wolkite-Arakit-Hosaena, Yezarima-Maytsebri-Shire, Mana begna-Lemlem Bereha, Mazorya-Hadero-Durgi, Emi-Lab-Gode, Agula Barahle-Dalol, and Tsegeda Megenteya-Ketema Nigus.
The road projects upon completion are expected to further strengthen integration between states. In addition to this, they will help utilize untapped natural resources and supply them to the market.
Out of the total 43 projects 31 of them are going to be carried out by local contractors, according to Ethiopian News Agency.
