Hidassie to Assemble ZTE Smartphones in Ethiopia

zteZTE, the Chinese telecom, and Hidassie, an Ethiopian firm, concluded an agreement to import and assemble ZTE smartphones here in Ethiopia.

The aim of Hidassie is to get technology transfer from the partnership in addition to saving foreign currency.

According to Fortune, Hidassie is engaged in the production of phones and TVs as well as distribution of SIM cards, mobile apparatus and CDMAs.

Taddese Asfaw, Hidassie’s General Manager, said; “The very rational behind our intention to choos these smartphones is that, despite their
modern nature, they can be accessible to all at ta reasonabke price”.

When the assembly factory commence production it is expected to minimize the nation’s foreign currency expenditure, create more job opportunities, secure foreign currency via exports and provide the products to Ethiopian market at a reasonable price.
