The Board of Directors at the Ethiopian Commodity Exchange (ECX) short listed five candidates and they are evaluating their Curriculum Vitaes for the purpose of appointing a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

ECX’s CEO is accountable to the Board which has 11 members. Out of the 11 members, six of them are assigned by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, including the Board chairman. The remaining six vacant places will be filled by elected members.

ECX until now has witnessed two CEOs; Eleni G/Medhin (PhD) and Anteneh Assefa. It was only a year ago the later resigned from his position which left ECX to be run by interim CEO Shimelis Habtewold.

It was in 2007 ECX got established as a public private enterprise partnership and commenced trading operations in 2008. It aimed at transforming the country’s agriculture into a market oriented production.
