The newly established Public Service Employees Transport Service Enterprise (PSETSE), disclosed it is going to start trial transportation service from Monday, September 15, 2014 using over 50 buses. The Enterprise was established last year intending to render free
transportation service for civil servants.
The Enterprise’s Director General, Dereje Woldeyohannes, noted the trial of transportation service will be carried out in ten routes across Addis Ababa mainly, Chefe-Hayat, Jemo, Akaki-Kality, Yeshi Debele and Asko.
He furthered PSETSE took delivery of 53 trial buses that are locally assembled from Metals and Engineering Corporation (MetEC).
The Enterprise was officially established in November 2013 with an initial capital of One Billion Birr.
According to the Director General, PSETSE will be serving only civil servants for the time being. Nonetheless, the Director General furthered, in the near future the Enterprise will start serving other customers during the rest of the day with fee.
In addition to this Dereje noted the Enterprise is currently operating with budget that is fully allocated by the government. But in the future, since it is established as a public enterprise it will generate its own revenue to administer itself.
The service PSETSE is going to render for the public is going to be along the Anbessa City Bus and it will also use the stations of Anbessa.
The free transport service for civil servants is part of the package the government is giving to government employees along with the salary increment it made a while ago.
