Sri Mulyani Indrawati, World Bank’s Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer, is going to be in Ethiopia for a three days visit starting from Sunday, September 14, 2014.
The aim of the visit is further strengthening the partnership of the Bank with Ethiopia. During her stay, Indrawati is going to meet with the Premier of the nation, Hailemariam Deslegn, and members of his cabinet for the purpose of discussing opportunities and challenges Ethiopia is facing. In addition to this, she will also meet representatives from the private sector, donor community, civil society and the media.
She is also scheduled to visit different sites in order to make first hand assessments on how the World Bank supported projects are benefiting the poor and are contributing to Ethiopia’s economic transformation.
She will meet with implementers and beneficiaries of projects that promote productive safety nets and improving urban local government development. According to the Bank’s press release, the managing director is going to see firsthand how initiatives that increase
competitiveness and create jobs, play significant roles in reducing poverty, creating employment and ensuring food security.
