Ethiopia: Former Abyssinia Bank’s President Moved to Debub Global

Former President of Bank of Abyssinia (BoA), Addisu Haba, is now appointed as the president of Debub Global Bank (DGB).

Nuredin Awol, Debub Global’s Board of Director’s Chairman, said the bored offered him the position as it heard Addisu has submitted his resignation to BoA’s board.

The reason Addisu gave when he resigned from his presidency at BoA was that he needed to rest. Addisu will now replace the founding President at DGB, Worku Lemma. In his part Worku claimed he had a major reason for his resignation from his post.

Addisu said, “I accepted the offer because it is more advantageous for me in terms of income and allowances”. He furthered, “It is a
place to test myself more by the challenges I am going to face, as the Bank isnew and needs extra effort to make it successful”.

Debub Global joined the banking industry as the 15th private bank in 2012. Back then it had a total of 5,481 shareholders with a 138.9
Million Birr paid up capital and 266.9 Million Birr subscribed capital.
