Adika is going to start a meter taxi service by September using 50 automobiles, which includes cars it acquired from Sheger City Meter Transport S.C.

Adika Taxi Service Plc was established as Adika Tour & Travel’s sister company in February 2014 with an initial capital of 7.5 Million Birr. According to the Company’s General Manager, Bizuayehu Tadesse, Adika was first in the process of engaging in dial a cab taxi service based on its 15 years experience and exposure in the car rental business.

Adika has finalized the branding of some of the cabs and organized the call center. Bizuayehu added on this, the 25 cars the company ordered from China are yet to be delivered.

According to Fortune, Adika plans to begin the service with a target niche market, in addition to rendering the service at any time to the city residents. In addition to this, the company aims to provide the service on a post paid basis to the niche market it plans to form.

The niche market is planned to be made by concluding a membership agreement with organizations and companies. Among the potential target organizations are Ethiopian Airlines, Fly Emirates, African Union (AU), United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), embassies
and NGOs.

Bizuayehu said, “Once an organization signed a membership agreement, the company provides its service at any time without immediate demand for payment”. “The payment will be settled monthly.”

Adika has not yet decided the fee for a kilometer but it will be lower than the average market price, Bezuayehu noted.
