Ethiopia: Walia Merges With PSETSE for Civil Servants Transportation

Public Service Employees Transport Service Enterprise (PSETSE) is going to merge with Walia Intercity Bus Service Enterprise in order to start giving the awaited transportation service to government employees in less than a quarter of a year.

In related news, PSETSE received its first sample bus for inspection at the Federal Transport Authority (FTA). The Enterprise ordered some 400 buses from Metal Engineering Corporation (MetEC), which are due to be delivered on October 2014, Dejene Debebe, senior public relations officer at Ministry of Transport (MoTr), noted.

The Enterprise is going to start rendering the transport service in the coming September, using these busses and the ones it will acquire from Walia as a result of the merger. Buses which are under various government offices and that are already giving transport service will also be used by the Enterprise when it starts rendering service.

PSETSE is going to be a profit making public enterprise and charge for services it gives during hours other than office opening and closing hours. Nonetheless, services rendered at office opening and closing hours are free of charge.

According to a study by the Ministry of Civil Service, there will be 26 routes the Enterprise will give its service when it is operational. The 26 routes will have a total 446 waiting stations. There will also be 15 points of departure and seven destination points. In some cases, there might be more than one destination from similar departures.

PSETSE was established in November 2013 with a total capital of one Billion Birr.
