Ethiopia: Oromia State Decided Over 31 Billion Birr as It’s Budget

For the 2014/2015 fiscal year the Oromia State Council passed the budget to be over 31.6 Billion Birr.

The new approved budget exceeds last year’s budget by 4.9 Billion Birr.

The Council also heard reports from the State Supreme Court and Audit Bureau which it endorsed.

More than 11 Billion Birr of the total 31.6 Billion Birr is allocated for capital budget and over 14.8 Billion Birr is for subsidizing woredas.

According to the Ethiopian News Agency it was indicated the State Administration has set a direction whereby it could further strengthen the popular movement as the year is when the GTP and the Millennium Goals end.

The news agency further noted areas that will be given attention are agriculture, education, health, water supply, rural roads, micro and small-scale enterprises, and training in technical and vocational education.
