The Ethiopian Aviation Enterprise (EAE) is looking for bidders to construct the Hawassa Airport.

The design work is already complete. According to EAE’s communications head, Wondeme Teklu, the airfield design was prepared by Transport Construction Design Enterprise (TCDE) while the terminal is designed by a consulting firm Bereket Tesfaye Consulting Architects and Engineering.

The three designs for the terminal presented by Bereket Tesfaye all include VIP lounge, restaurant, roof terrace, kitchen, security check points and baggage handling, all within a five-storey building.

According to Wondeme the construction of both the terminal and airfield will start before the end of the current calendar year.

Hawssa is the capital of the Southern Nations Nationalities and Peoples State. Other than this it is home for BGI Brewery, Millennium Pepsi Cola Plant, Hawassa Textile Factory S.C and numerous hotels. In addition to all these, the city is projected to have an industrial zone.
