Omo Kuraz Sugar Development Project concluded a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with three Universities, Hawassa, Arba Minch and Mizan Tepi Universities, that are situated in the Southern Nations Nationalities and Peoples (SNNP) State.
According to the General Manager of the Project, Nuredin Asaro, the MoU stipulates the universities will produce skilled manpower and alos provide short term as well as long term trainings for the project’s employees.
Nuredin further noted the Universities have agreed to train middle level manpower that is equipped with the necessary sugar development skills.
In addition to the three universities, an agreement has also been reached with Jinka, Bonga, Wolaita and Mizan Tepi technical and vocational colleges, the General Manager said.
Nuredin further Arba Minch University is preparing to launch a graduate program of sugarcane development. He added Semera University is eyeing to become a center of excellence in the same area.
