Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Haile Mariam Desalegn inaugurated Butajira-Gubre and Alaba-Alemgebeya-Welbareg roads which were built at the cost of 800 Million Birr and 712.7 Million Birr respectively.

Butajira-Gubre shortens the former Butajira- Addis Ababa-Wolkite root which was 250 Kilometers to only 82 Kilometers. This was done by cutting through Zebider Mountain which ranges 1,300 Meter high by Sunshine Construction.

The Premier appreciated the job done by Sunshine and said this is a proof for the local contractors’ capacity to be growing.

Workineh Gebeyehu, Minister of Transport, in his part appreciated the efforts being made by local contractors in saving the country’s hard currency.

Samuel Taffese, General Manager of Sunshine, called for the government to continue encouraging and supporting local contractors.

According to Capital, Butajira-Gubre road will enhance economic and social contract communication between formerly isolated east and west Gurage.
