Ethiopian Airlines will inaugurate its aviation academy expansion work next month. The expansion work was done at the cost of US$ 55 Million, according to The Reporter. The expansion work include a newly built multipurpose building that has classrooms, dormitories, library, IT center and cafeterias.

There is an ever increasing demand from domestic and international customers for the airlines’ basic and recurrent training programs. In response to this, the Ethiopian Aviation Academy is currently undergoing massive transformation. It is heavily investing in equipment, modern training aircrafts, computer based trainings, simulators and other ultra modern facilities.

According to the Vice President of the aviation academy, Samuel Assefa, the academy’s enrollement capacity has grown by 400 percent to 1000 trainees annually.

The Airlines’ CEO, Tewolde Gebremariam, said “As the airline grows we need more professional. We are investing in the aviation academy. We have increased the intake. In 2010 the intake capacity of the academy was 200 students per year. Today it has an intake capacity of 1000. We are training 1000 professionals a year. That shows that we are employing 1000 people a year. The airline is creating jobs for more than 1000 Ethiopian men and women. We are introducing new technologies like the multi crew pilot license training program”.

Ethiopian's Aviation Academy consists of Cabin Crew Training Cchool, Marketing and Ground Operations Training School, Technician School and Leadership School.
