A two days awareness creation training has been organized by the Ethiopian Ministry of Trade on World Trade Organization (WTO) agreements, the accession process, and the packages developed on fair trade and completion.
Media executives, the legislative and members of the business community were the ones to whom the training was addressed to, according to The Ethiopian Herald.
State Minister for Trade, Yakob Yala, said is a handy instrument for it enables to avoid unfair competition and helps improve competitiveness in the business community of the global market.
He further noted, the training will help prevent rent seeking in the business community and promote the community’s participation in democratization and development.
Commenting on benefits of being part of WTO Yakob said, WTO is an international institution that helps countries promulgate similar rules with regard to trade and also enable them engage in a market where 97 percent of world’s trade and investment takes place.
He added, countries registering impressive development are members of the WTO and Ethiopia’s main trade partners. He then concluded, being not a member of this strong organization is not an option.
