Ethiopian & Chinese Intellectual Property Offices Signed MoU

Ethiopia Intellectual Property Office (EIPO) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with its Chinese counterpart, State Intellectual Property Office of the Peoples’ Republic of China (SIPO), The Ethiopian Herald reported.

Berhanu Adello , EIPO’s Director General, on the occasion said the MoU will give the two countries the opportunity to exchange technological intellectual property information. He then added the signing will create for intellectual property experts experience sharing and training opportunities.

Deputy Commissioner of the SIPO, Xiao Xingwei, reminded that millions of data on patent has been sent to Ethiopia from China annually. This, he said, is essential for the technology transfer. He also added that the signing will enable Ethiopia to have its registered patents get global recognition.

Ethiopia has signed similar documents with United States of America and Japan, according to The Ethiopian Herald.
