African Mobile Ad Markets Hit 1 Bln Impressions a Month

In Ethiopia the market has been growing from February onwards 

Nigeria has enjoyed the largest growth in mobile advertising in Africa with market hitting 122 percent to nearly 1 billion impressions a month, the latest Mobile Insights Report released yesterday by InMobi, the world’s largest independent mobile ad network, said.

According to the report, trends in mobile advertising in Africa are on the rise. 

InMobi now serves 4.2 billion impressions a month in the continent, up 37.9 percent from 3 billion in February. Mobile ad impressions in Nigeria are now doubling at in just 90 days driven by the 456 million growths in impressions in standard internet-enabled phone impressions.

The company said yesterday that Smartphone impressions had increased 127 percent, but remained relatively small with 11 percent of the total market share.

The Mobile Insights Report indicates that Ethiopia, Nigeria and Botswana show the fastest mobile ad growth in mobile markets in the continent from February to May 2011. South Africa and Nigeria maintain the top two positions as the largest African mobile markets, and now account for two of every five mobile ads across the continent.
