The Addis Abeba Chamber of Commerce & Sectoral Associations (AACCSA) awarded International Organisation for Standardization (ISO) 9001:2008 management certificate on November 15, 2013, Fortune reported.

AACCSA was audited by DQS Ethiopia, an assessments and certifications of management systems firm.

“We started the process to become certified 21 months ago, but the process was halted for three months because of organisational restructuring,” said Gebeyehu Zerihun, quality management system manager at the Chamber.

The ISO 9001:2008 is a quality management system requirements certification.

“We have been encouraging our members to apply for this certification,” said the manager. “The certification is an opportunity for us to show our dedication to this process.”

The certification process began in January 2012, after the Chamber signed an 80,000 birr contract with Integrated Quality Solutions PLC, a local consulting firm called, to reorganize the chamber's management systems for the AACCSA to meet the ISO requirements, according to Gebeyehu Zerihun, quality management system manager at the AACCSA.
