The World Bank and Addis Ababa University (AAU) signed assistance agreement amounting to five million birr on Monday, 2 December, 2013, Ethiopian News Agency reported.

AAU President Dr Admasu Tsegaye and World Bank Ethiopia Country Director Guang Chen signed the agreement.

The five million birr assistance will be used to establish technology center. Dr Admasu on the occasion said, the agreement will encourage environment friendly technological inventions. The establishment of the center is expected to produce researches and technological inventions which will help Ethiopia cope up with environmental change.

World Bank Director Guang Chen, said the assistance is aimed at supporting the government's efforts towards building green economy. Climate change is posing great danger in agriculture and water resource of countries like Ethiopia, he said, adding, the Bank will assist projects and efforts to reduce this danger.
