Over 1,600 km rural road was constructed in Oromia State through the Universal Rural Road Access Program (URRAP) during the first quarter of the current fiscal year, the state roads authority said.

During a meeting held in Adama Town on Friday, the Authority's Deputy General Manager Abdo Geleta said the State has made meaningful progress in expanding rural roads.

Some 16,600 km of the total 30,000 km rural road set to be constructed during the Growth and Transformation Plan period has so far been completed.
